Can you figure out someones weight based on the % of weight they lost?
Think of this as a math brain teaser with real life application and a side of pay back.
Ok.. So first here’s why i’m asking. My job has a “biggest loser” competition and is very concerned about keeping peoples weight a secret. The only information they give out is what % of weight loss they have achieved since the beginning. With just a little bit of information and over 2 or 3 weeks, i’m sure there is a way to figure it out someones weight. A coworker told me i was an idiot for thinking that it was possible but i’m pretty sure you can. I didn’t care to figure it out until she strait up called me an idiot. So this is about proving to her that its possible. I currently have a spread sheet that i made that works, but i’d like to get a simple formula to give a quick result.
Here’s the information we have to work with and why i think its possible:
1) We use a digital scale that only gives weight in 0.2 lb increments. i.e. 4.0 – 4.2 – 4.4 etc
2) We use the formula of (pounds lost) divided by (Starting Weight) to find the percentage of weight loss. ( 10lb loss divided by 150lb equals 6.66%) we do round the remainders.
3) we get notified of every ones % lost every week as a running total. so NOT “this week alone they lost 2%” but rather “Last week they had a loss % of 4%, but this week they didn’t loss or gain weight so they are still at 4%”
Not enough info you might say? well think about this, when i see a number like 4.37% i know that there are a limited amount of (lb lost) DivBy (start weight) that could even result in exactly 4.37%. So after two or three weeks there should be a pattern that starts to show a common (start weight). hopefully that makes sense.
keep in mind, i’m smart enough to have figured it out using a spread sheet. it’s possible. but i’m not math smart enough to write out a simple formula.
Digital weighing scale versus Analogue weighing scale?

Digital weighing scale versus Analogue weighing scale?
I’m trying to shop around for a new weighing scale. I had an analogue scale that lasted about 15 years before the measuring plate finally cracked under pressure. Haha.
Anywho, I heard through the grapevine that a digital weighing scale is supposed to be more accurate versus an analogue weighing scale.
Is there truth behind this? And if so, why is it that professional athletes such as MMA fighters and boxers use analogue weighing scales instead of digital weighing scales during the weigh-in process if digital scales are considered the more accurate?

Is It Natural for my weight to Go Up about 4lbs after I’ve eaten a few snacks, food and in a few days time?

Is It Natural for my weight to Go Up about 4lbs after I\’ve eaten a few snacks, food and in a few days time?
On Saturday morning I weight myself on The Wii Fit and it said that I’ve lost the 4lbs I was meant to loose from 10stone 5lbs a mouth and then the next day I weight myself it said I put on 1lbs and then I weight myself today and it says I’ve gained back the 4lbs already. How could that be, it there something wrong with me or something. I’m 15 years old, I’m roughly between the height of 5ft 4inches and I’m trying to get down to 9stone 12lbs and it was gong so well when i lost the four pounds but why the hell have i gained it back already. My mum says that i shouldn’t really weigh myself in the afternoon especially if I’ve eaten, but then again I do exercise a lot and sometimes it would say I’ve lost weight, but then sometimes it will say I’ve put on like 4lbs or 5lbs. Why is that!! Is it because of what i eat?? Generally I eat very healthy and drink water and exercises with Zumba everyday for 1 hour so it’s kind of strange, although i have been noticing that on the Wii Fit my weight changes little by little in less that 1 second is that normal, I mean getting lighter an lighter. Also is Wii fit an accurate scale for really weighing yourself and is it right about me loosing or gaining the pounds, and if it said i weight 10st 1lbs would it be true on a proper digital scale or would it say more or less say like my BMI was bigger really??? Also when would be a perfect time to weight myself, and it it normal to go up in 4lbs within a few days, after a snack or two, or a little bit of sweets in between??? Please help because this is really Getting on my nerves right now and getting in the way of important things!!! I can’t take it any more. I just want to be 9stone 12lbs again so bad!!!

Gained 10 lbs in four hours?

Gained 10 lbs in four hours?
I weighed myself about four five hours ago and was 123 lbs (clothed)—my normal according to every scale I step on, now I get on my scale (unclothed) and it says 134! I’ve redone and redone it and it says 134! I haven’t eaten ANYTHING in those four hours. I changed the battery and it says the same thing! My husband said he weighs about 8 lbs more than normal on the scale, but he would like to keep me from panicking. Is it possible to gain that much weight–like do I need to go to the ER or is it common for digital scales to do this?? I have never had one do that before!
I know you gain weight from morning to night, my a.m weight is usually 120-122 and my evening weight is usually 123-125 max. It has never been 123 at 7 PM and then 134 at 11 PM. That is 10 lbs in FOUR hours. That can’t be normal.

Is the Wii Fit scale accurate?

Is the Wii Fit scale accurate?
For the past week I have been using the Wii fit for exercise, and my body test says I am 5′2 and weigh 103 lbs. I then went and weighed myself on the digital scale and it was 108 (subtracting the weight of clothes I had on). So I’m not entirely sure if I’m really the Wii fit weight or the digital scale weight. Which do you think is real??
My scales keep changing… how should i weigh myself correctly?

My scales keep changing… how should i weigh myself correctly?
I have digital scales and they keep changing how much I’ve lost! First they’ll say I’ve lost 3 pounds so I get off and try again and then they say I’ve lost less, and then I try again and suddenly I’ve lost 3 pounds again and then 4 and then back to 1! It keeps changing and I don’t know why :/ I am weighing myself in the bath so it’s on a flat surface… I don’t know what I am doing wrong. My normal non-digital ones seem to mess up with me too… what am i doing wrong?! or are all scales just rubbish?!
I weigh myself in my underwear every time, so it shouldn’t be the extra weight of clothing… and also both my scales are brand new!
