What happens if you put a magnet next to a solar panel?

What happens if you put a magnet next to a solar panel?

Well, I’m trying to make a solar car and I was wondering if I could use neodymium magnets as a base. So if I put it next to a solar panel, will it drain the electricity produced by it or will it enhance it? Also, what if I put a motor next to the neodymium magnet, will the motor not work? The solar panel is connected to the motor using two wires so…. Will it work?

By the way, the pull strength of the magnets is about 1.6 lbs.

Do you think this design of an emp generator would work?

by Amy on Jun.30, 2011, under Earth Magnets

Do you think this design of an emp generator would work?

“grab a tube of some sort(preferably not metal) wrap copper wire from one end to the other and connects the ends of the wire.
put a firecracker in the middle of the tube(possibly with a fuse sticking out of a small hole) and put a strong neodymium magnet on each side of the firecracker.
light it and run
but be careful pieces of the tube can come flying at you or you could get hit by the magnets flying out of the tube’s ends”

like do you think it would really fry all electronic equipment in a small area?

removing iron filings from neodymium magnets?

removing iron filings from neodymium magnets?

i dropped a neocube on the floor, turns out that the floor had iron filings all over it from god knows what. however, now there is iron between each of the 216 magnets, and apart from them being stiff and tough to work with now the iron grinds away the nickel coating. any ideas on how to get all the iron off? preferably WITHOUT detailing each and every single magnet.

Where can I get a neodymium magnet shaped like a 90 degree corner (with one pole on each end)?

Where can I get a neodymium magnet shaped like a 90 degree corner (with one pole on each end)? Or a neodymium magnet that is sorta shaped like a candy cane? Also, where could I get neodymium magnets shaped like horeshoes or a variety of other weird shapes? Please leave link if possible! Thank you for the help!!

Would more powerful magnets, such as neodymium magnets, produce more electricity when put through copper wire?

by Amy on Jan.19, 2011, under Earth Magnets

Would more powerful magnets, such as neodymium magnets, produce more electricity when put through copper wire?

I have two PVC connectors with copper wire wrapped around them, and when I put bar magnets in it and shake it, I get 1/4 V. When I swing them over it, I get nothing. I was wondering if it would be worth it to get more powerful magnets, and if I did, would I get more Voltage? Is it just something with my method?

Hard Physics Problem, Need Expert’s HELP!!?

Hard Physics Problem, Need Expert\’s HELP!!?

The idea that a magnetic field can have therapeutic value has been around for centuries. A rare-earth magnet sold to relieve joint pain is a disk 1.20 mm thick and 3.50 mm in diameter. Its circular flat faces are its north and south poles. Assume it is accurately modeled as a magnetic dipole. Also assume B ≈ (μ0μ) / (2πx3) describes the magnetic field it produces at all points along its axis. The field is strongest, with the value 38.6 mT, at the center of each flat face. At what distance from the surface is the magnitude of the magnetic field like that of the Earth, with a value of 55.7 µT?
_________mm

I’ve missed my first attempt for this problem, is there any expert willing to help me find the solution with detailed steps? Thank you in advance!

wipe hard drive with magnet?

wipe hard drive with magnet?

i don’t really know much about computers but i heard yoou can wipe your hard drive with a magnet, well i’m planning on doing this because i’m gonna donate my computer to charity and since i heard that i wanted to know if using a rare earth magnet with a pull force of 60 or 70 lb can wipe my hard drive and i still can use it?,because i’ve used this computer for over 3 years and i stored a lot of stuff on it ,so can you help me out,by the way i use linux and my filesystem is ext3,i heard it’s a little harder to wipe information on your hard drive when you have certain file systems, because i tried to use shred ,srm and wipe, wipe works i think(i’m not really sure),but the other ones say they don’t work very well on ext3.
anyone have an answer?
