How could I improve my Prologue?

by Amy on Mar.15, 2012, under Knife

How could I improve my Prologue?

Do you know the phrase ‘Be careful what you wish for? ‘

Well I should have gone with it when I had the chance.

Honestly, who would ever imagine that I would be sitting tied to a chair with bruises and scratches all over my body?

No one. Yes, thats right. No one.

Being in a different country waiting for my freaking prince charming to come rescue me. Not that I need him, after all that I’ve been through. I’ve never been the type of Cinderella to to sit and wait for things to happen.

After my mother died I came to the conclusion that time and life shouldn’t be wasted no matter what.

My pocket knife finally managed to slip through the last threads of the rope and I slowly and carefully pulled my hands up to my chest to examine them. Just as I thought the purplish, red line that swept around both of my slender wrists hurt like hell.

A sudden crash interrupted my train of thought and I quickened my pace. Within seconds I was released from the chair and was running in the opposite direction of the crash and the shouts of my captures.

It was then that I heard his voice.

“ Come on Nicholas. Aren’t you tired of this pathetic game? You know that, that girl means absolutely nothing to me. Kill her if you like, but leave me out of it.”

My eye brows narrowed. The bastard! After everything we had been through he still chose to throw me under the bus at every opportunity that he got.

Yet no matter how strongly I felt about the situation I was in now, the words that he had just spoken had cracked my heart.

This is the price I paid for falling in love.

I wish I wasn’t so
Lovey Dovey.

WELL? WHAT COULD I DO TO MAKE IT BETTER? ADD SUGGUSTIONS IF YOU LIKE.
Thank You!
Ok so make it darker…hmmm.. ok
Yep I am planning on posting it on Wattpad! I’ll leave a link to the story when I pick the 5 star answer. :D

Any recommendations for books on japanese bladesmithing?

Any recommendations for books on japanese bladesmithing?

For a long time an aspiration of mine has been to possess the ability to smith high-quality japanese blades, in addition to survival knives. I don’t really know where to start, aside from beginner courses, but these are too expensive for me at the moment. If anyone could recommend some literature or routes to take on japanese bladesmithing, I’d be grateful.

I’m 19, live in the UK and have experience with ken jutsu (knives, short swords and long swords) if that helps.

SURVIVAL HELP: How can I run away from home and survive for 1 or 2 days?

SURVIVAL HELP: How can I run away from home and survive for 1 or 2 days?

I don’t need a sleeping bag or anything because I’m not going hiking. For my own reasons, i’m running away from home for a a day or 2 (hopefully less that 48 hours). I’m 16 years old, no allergies, no disabilities, and don’t get sick easily. It’s winter now but I go shirtless in 34 degrees F sometimes and it hasn’t even snowed this winter so don’t worry

Do you think it’s good for me to fill up on good healthy food right before leaving? I am going to pack lightly. I’m only bringing my clothes, a sweater, a warm jacket, and food in zip lock bags. I’m bringing an apple, 2 fiber bars, some cashews, some gram crackers, cheerios, band-aids, and a pocket knife. Am I good or is it too much? I’m running away so I want to avoid suspicion, NO BACKPACK. I’ll be camping in a nice open field right in front of the residential homes. There are no roads here and I know of many places I can stay where the police won’t think to look, including the forest, an abandoned train car, even my friends house during the day but I personally want to avoid this. The only problem is animals, and whatever weird people are here that I don’t know. I’ve seen some Mexican field workers over there, I think they’re normal people, It’s also near a railroad track with some railroad workers and people live near there so I don’t think it’s a ’scary’ place. It’s very close to houses, and close to the the main road with people and a grocery store that I can steal food from.

So, am I okay with this? I’ll be gone for a day hopefully, but if not, then 2 days. I’m not worried about surviving, I know i’ll live but I just want to be comfortable. I can’t carry more food. During the day i’ll be walking and it will be boring, at night i’ll rest but i’ll TRY not to fall asleep and i’ll have my knife open and ready just in case. I’m sure i’ll be able to dig a hole to put my food in so I won’t look suspicious while walking around.

Lastly, TRUST ME I have to run away for at least a day. You don’t know my situation, it’s nothing serious but I know it’s necessary to leave the house for a while. Please don’t hesitate to give me your advice, it won’t be bad it’ll be just like going outside and playing sports with my friends :)
Also, I just had a clever idea, If I can find a nice spot to dig a hole or hide my stuff, then I might be able to bring more food and keep it there. I might even be able to bring a backpack and hide it.
So many trolls, i’m ready for the real helpers now!
