my computer was off. I tried to turn it back on and nothing. My internet/phone/TV company came out today and changed the modem to an upgraded one, as they stated the modem they had installed previously won’t work on the new frequency in Laguna Niguel. They also changed a couple of cable lines outside at the cable box. When this happened on 1/26/12 my phones also died and the message on my phone was “check phone lines.” My phones run thru my modem also. Both phone lines I have were dead for a short period of time, even the land line was dead. A few weeks ago my laptop would not connect to the internet and my modem showed it was ok per my call to my internet company. When I called them again 1/26/12 and told them my problems they checked my modem from their location and said they could see a couple of resets as well as a couple of losses and would send out a technician. 1/27/12 I decided to turn on my laptop and to my surprise my wireless was connected and I could get on the internet. Surprise surprise!! I had tried to get connected many, many times previously and nothing. Could it be a power surge that knocked out my phones and desktop and regenerated my laptop?

I have a USB skype phone (brand Anotec). I bought some Skype credit and then wanted to directly dial a number using the phone as instructed, first entering the country code, followed by the number. However, even though the LCD display on the phone shows the digits entered correctly with the Skype screen shifting to call screen, the window then gets ’stuck’ on the country dropdown option and nothing happens, even when pressing the call button. The only way to proceed is to cancel the call and start again. It is apparently impossible to directly make a call using the phone without resorting to the phone book. I have enough credit and the number is correct and the software used is Skypemate. Any suggestions to directly dial a number and get through?

So I’ve been trying to convince her to get me a new PC(not a whole PC,just CPU,GPU and more RAM) but she keeps saying that its a waste of money.My PC can only run games from 2004 or something and I don’t even have a console ! She never got me anything worth more than 50~60$ and I rarely ask her to get me anything.And before some1 suggest me to get a job,guess what I already have 1 but it barely covers my internet bill(which is really high here),phone bill & some money for going out with friends so I unless I grounded myself at home and disabled internet/phone service,I can’t get it ! and yes my mum can afford a new PC,shes not poor -.-” I finished my finals today,got a mix of A’s and B+’s.

I’m in charge of setting up our 2 person office. I have to set up 2 wired desktop, 2 IP(voip) phones and a wired printer. I have no idea how to set this up and which hardware to buy.

At my previuos small office, the IT person used a Cisco ASA5505 to connect those same equipment. Is the ASA 5505 overkill for this? Is there another cisco router that can do VoiP and data for cheaper?

If you use skype on your cellphone to call someone via skype (not video) first of all, can you text off there, and second, does it show up on the cell bill? because I want to talk to one of my male friends, but my boyfriend is crazy controlling and jealous and he checks the call logs on my phone since I’m on his plan.

Okay so a few months ago I got the Verizon TV/Internet/Phone bundle, and I got the multi-room dvr, and I only got that single box. So I just now ordered a set-top box from them in the mail, but I was wondering if they were going to send a technician to deliver the box and install it, or send a technician after the box arrives, or if I’m going to be able to do the set up and installation by myself.
