Why should it bother Joe Public if High Street chain stores go to the wall…surely they "had it coming"?

They’ve always charged inflated prices, underpaid their staffs, treated their customers as criminals, with their spy cameras and their security guards. The customers are now staying away in droves.

For instance. Yesterday Peacocks had signs in their window. 70% OFF. I didn’t see ONE SINGLE ITEM marked down by 70%. And the items which bore signs saying 20% off were exactly the same price as previously. And most of the clothes were junk anyhow.

So is it any surprise that that particular company is closing down?
And I’m sure other Answerers have spotted similar behaviour in other stores.

Woolies has gone, and nobody misses them. Now Peacocks. Who’s next? Who cares anyway?
